“Smooth Sailing”

Trust in and rely confidently on the LORD with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding.6In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way]. Proverbs 3:5-6 AMP

Wise words from our friend King Solomon. Once again, we are reminded that where our heart is our desires will be also. If we truly are His disciples, then we will follow the path laid out in front of us! The Scripture declares,

“There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him, But its end is the way of death” Proverbs 14:12 AMP

WOW! Did you see that? If we chose our own way, it may be more than a mistake but may lead to death! The path that we were walking before we came to Christ was surly a path to death. Satan’s goal is to bring pain, suffering, death, and separation to the human race. Jesus warned,

“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].” John 10:10 AMP

We see the difference between the purposes of God and Satan. If we walk the path of the enemy, it will surely see the destruction of our lives. If we walk in the way of the Lord, life, liberty, and freedom will reign! Walking that path however can be sometimes intimidating! That is why Solomon encourages the believer to “Trust in, and confidently rely upon the Lord”  We must have a continued regard for God’s providence and must rely and depend on and believe that He is in control through all life’s trails! The Apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesians,

“Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us,” Ephesians 3:20 AMP

Look at the way Paul describes God’s ability, “able,” “superabundantly,” and “infinite beyond” all we can ask or think! Not only that God is able but that the same power to trust now resides within us! Our problem is that we get our eyes off God and begin to look with our physical eyes. When things seem to not be going our way, we begin to reason about a course of action that we might take. That is when we get in trouble! Solomon tells us “Not rely on your own insight or understanding.”  He tells us to “recognize” that God is at work in every detail of our lives. I love the Scripture,

“I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return].” Philippians 1:6 AMP

Good to know that God is in control! If we believe the Word, God will never stop working with us to keep us on tract until the day He calls us home! Listen today for the voice of the Holy Spirt and follow the path laid out for your life! Have a blessed day, Pastor Ken

  1. Thank you! I am so anxious today for some reason and this devotional is exactly what I needed to experience. So often it seems so. Such a blessing to know that God knows and sends me the help and support I need through others. May God bless and keep you close and safe.

  2. This is a verse I learned in early recovery. When I trust in the Lord, the circumstance may be challenging, however I don’t live in fear and gave peace of mind
