“My son, keep my words And treasure my commandments within you [so they are readily available to guide you].”
Proverbs 7:1 AMP
Proverbs chapter 7 opens once again with an admonition to the believer to “keep and treasure” God’s Word. The word “keep” in the Hebrew has a significant meaning. It means to “guard, watch, and limit access and movement of persons or objects in and out of an area, implying protection to or from the object being guarded.” What great advice when it comes to what we watch, listen to, and expose ourselves to daily! Satan’s goal is to get you to question the validity of God’s Word. Jesus talked about this in the parable of the Sower.
““Now [the meaning of] the parable is this: The seed is the word of God [concerning eternal salvation]. 12Those beside the road are the people who have heard; then the devil comes and takes the message [of God] away from their hearts, so that they will not believe [in Me as the Messiah] and be saved. 13Those on the rocky soil are the people who, when they hear, receive and welcome the word with joy; but these have no firmly grounded root. They believe for a while, and in time of trial and temptation they fall away [from Me and abandon their faith].14The seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, but as they go on their way they are suffocated with the anxieties and riches and pleasures of this life, and they bring no fruit to maturity. 15But as for that seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word with a good and noble heart, and hold on to it tightly, and bear fruit with patience.”
Luke 8:11-15 AMP
In each of the above situations, Satan’s goal is to steal away the Word before it has time to produce its fruit. Our enemy knows that the Word of God is powerful and true. God told the prophet Isaiah,
““For as the rain and snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth, Making it bear and sprout, And providing seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:10-11 AMP
God’s Word is more than just a gathering together of words giving knowledge and wisdom. The Word is God is active and powerful with the ability to change the hardest of hearts.
“For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
Hebrews 4:12 AMP
This is the main reason the Word of God is banned in 52 countries! It brings light to the darkness and exposes every lie of the enemy with truth! Our enemy wants to keep us in darkness away from the light of God’s Word. When we walk in the light, we can clearly see everything. When we walk in the dark, we can see nothing!
We are called to protect and limit access to our thinking processes by the enemy. Like a valuable treasure locked in a vault, we must hide the Word of God in our hearts and let I accomplish His work!
Have a blessed day, Pastor Ken
