He’s Alive!

“Riches will not provide security in the day of wrath and judgment, But righteousness rescues from death.

Proverbs 11:4 AMP

As we take time to think about the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Proverbs reminds of the bigger issue at hand…our imminent departure! There is coming for each one of us a day of reckoning. The Bible is clear that,

“And just as it is appointed and destined for all men to die once and after this [comes certain] judgment,”

Hebrews 9:27 AMP

It was for this very reason the Christ came to carry to the cross our sin. There was no way man could make himself right before a holy and just God. From the moment of conception sin was at work in us so none of us could meet the requirement of a perfect sacrifice, but He was different! The sin offering requirement was for the sacrifice of a lamb that was perfect without spot or blemish. This sacrifice needed to be continuous as it did not cleanse the people of their sins but only covered it until the perfect sacrifice was prepared! Daily the blood flowed reminding the people of the terrible consequence of sin. The book of Romans reminds us,

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God [that is, His remarkable, overwhelming gift of grace to believers] is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 6:23 AMP

The wages of sin were death! Death has reigned since the day that Adam and Eve disobeyed and chose to walk away from God. The good news today is that the tomb is empty! The resurrection is proof positive that the sacrifice Christ made was enough to break the chain of sin and death! If it wasn’t, Jesus would still be in the grave. So complete was the work of Christ, a daily sacrifice no longer needs be made! Again in Romans we read,

“Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live [together] with Him, 9because we know [the self-evident truth] that Christ, having been raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has power over Him. 10For the death that He died, He died to sin [ending its power and paying the sinner’s debt] once and for all; and the life that He lives, He lives to [glorify] God [in unbroken fellowship with Him]:

Romans 6:8-11 AMP

And in the book of Hebrews,

“It was fitting for us to have such a High Priest [perfectly adapted to our needs], holy, blameless, unstained [by sin], separated from sinners and exalted higher than the heavens; 27who has no day by day need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices, first of all for his own [personal] sins and then for those of the people, because He [met all the requirements and] did this once for all when He offered up Himself [as a willing sacrifice].”

Hebrews 7:26-27 AMP

Do you see it? “Once and for all.” This is the reason that most cult groups deny the deity of Jesus Christ. If Jesus was not God in the flesh reconciling the world to Himself, then our sin is not forgiven, and we will face eternal judgement for our actions! The Scripture reveals to us that,

“For you know that you were not redeemed from your useless [spiritually unproductive] way of life inherited [by tradition] from your forefathers with perishable things like silver and gold, 19but [you were actually purchased] with precious blood, like that of a [sacrificial] lamb unblemished and spotless, the priceless blood of Christ.”

1 Perter 1:18-19 AMP

It is because of His righteousness attributed to us through grace that we can now stand confidently before the throne of God! The veil that separated man from God is now torn and we have access to the very Thone of God!

“Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment].”

Hebrews 4:16 AMP

Have a blessed celebration of freedom through Christ Jesus today! Pastor Ken
