“A man will not be established by wickedness, But the root of the [consistently] righteous will not be moved.”
Proverbs 12:3 AMP
Today we read about the strength and depth of the righteous man living in God’s way. This verse begins with contrasting the security of a man perusing wickedness, and the stability of the man perusing righteousness. First we see what is at hand, the process of establishment. The word here in the Hebrew is the word meaning, “proved, secure, sustained, i.e. to authenticate something as valid and having legitimate authority, with a focus on durability and lastingness of the situation; to be decided by a firm conclusion to a thorough thought process.” If we want stability and success in our walk with God, this verse gives us the answer to the question! Jesus talked about the security and stability of the believer when He described life as filled with may storms.
“So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, will be like a wise man [a far-sighted, practical, and sensible man] who built his house on the rock. 25And the rain fell, and the floods and torrents came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26And everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not do them, will be like a foolish (stupid) man who built his house on the sand. 27And the rain fell, and the floods and torrents came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell–and great and complete was its fall.”
Matthew 7:24-27 AMP
In total agreement we see the reality of our verse today. Build your house on the foundation of God’s Word and it will be established. Build your house on wickedness and it will be destroyed!
The proof of that is in the word “wickedness.” The word used here means “to commit a violent crime against civil law; a violation of ethical relations; violation of the moral code.” WOW! Just watch the news and see what is happening throughout the world today! Man is trying to build his house on the backs of the innocent. Even the courts are now not refuge for the innocent but a tool of the wicked. This isn’t a new thing the failing courts. King Solomon saw it during his own reign.
“Moreover, I have seen under the sun that in the place of justice there is wickedness, and in the place of righteousness there is wickedness. 17I said to myself, “God will judge both the righteous and the wicked,” for there is a time [appointed] for every matter and for every deed”
Ecclesiastes 3:16-17 AMP
A simple but powerful reminder to the judges who sit in unrighteousness legislation the approval of lies! It is also is a warning to those who proport wickedness as righteousness in moral matters. Living an immoral life will never establish a stability against judgement. However, the opposite is true of the man pursuing righteousness. The word here translated “cannot be moved,” is the Hebrew word meaning “cannot slip, totter, quake, shake; to stabilize against random motions which may result in falling implying a lack of control due to weakness.” I am immediately reminded of the words written by The Apostle Paul to the church at Ephesus,
“and [His gifts to the church were varied and] He Himself appointed some as apostles [special messengers, representatives], some as prophets [who speak a new message from God to the people], some as evangelists [who spread the good news of salvation], and some as pastors and teachers [to shepherd and guide and instruct], 12[and He did this] to fully equip and perfect the saints (God’s people) for works of service, to build up the body of Christ [the church]; 13until we all reach oneness in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, [growing spiritually] to become a mature believer, reaching to the measure of the fullness of Christ [manifesting His spiritual completeness and exercising our spiritual gifts in unity]. 14So that we are no longer children [spiritually immature], tossed back and forth [like ships on a stormy sea] and carried about by every wind of [shifting] doctrine, by the cunning and trickery of [unscrupulous] men, by the deceitful scheming of people ready to do anything [for personal profit].”
Ephesians 4:11-14 AMP
Knowing God’s Word and putting it into action will bring a stability to your life like no other thing. Bank accounts, investments, and jobs are all subject to things beyond your control. Here today and gone tomorrow. Why not set your feet on the rock and even in the midst of the storms of life, you will stand!
Have a blessed day walking in the righteousness of Christ! Pastor Ken
Amen.
