Build Wisely

“The wise woman builds her house [on a foundation of godly precepts, and her household thrives], But the foolish one [who lacks spiritual insight] tears it down with her own hands [by ignoring godly principles].”

Proverbs 14:1 AMP

Today we focus on some Godly advice for women. In this verse Solomon is dealing with more than simply the physical structure in which one might live. The Hebrew word here has may various definitions. While of course it means “a structure in which related people live” but it also means “things owned or shared in common.” It can also be used to describe “a group of people joined together by a common purpose such as a church, community or nation.” I love this definition, “the threads configured by a spider with a focus on the fragility of construction to support each other!” WOW! That is a great definition of the importance of the role of women in life! If we borrow that meaning we could say that the verse literally says, “The wise woman links the home together by godly precepts and it thrives.”

The word builds here is the word meaning to “establish a firm base for a standard or practice.” Notice that the verse is talking about initiating and keeping the precepts of God in their rightful place! We have seen both the benefits and consequences of accepting or rejecting the Word of God. I am reminded of one of my favorite verses,

“The LORD is the portion of my inheritance, my cup [He is all I need]; You support my lot. 6The [boundary] lines [of the land] have fallen for me in pleasant places; Indeed, my heritage is beautiful to me.” Psalms 16:5-6 AMP

Have His boundary lines fallen in a pleasant place in your life? When we respect God, we pay attention to him and give him special consideration. In other words, we honor him and treat him with admiration (worship). As a result, the child of God reveres God by obeying His rules. Accordingly, the woman who builds her life on the Word of God will always be rewarded! In speaking to the prophet Isiah God said,

“This is what the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel says, “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit (benefit), Who leads you in the way that you should go.”

Isaiah 48:17 AMP

The call of God to all of us is the same.

“May the LORD our God be with us as He was with our fathers; may He not leave us nor abandon us [to our enemies], 58that He may guide our hearts to Himself, to walk in all His ways [following Him] and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His precepts which He commanded our fathers. 59Let these words of mine, with which I have made supplication before the LORD, be near to the LORD our God day and night, so that He will maintain the cause and right of His servant and of His people Israel as each day requires,60so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the LORD is God; there is no one else. 61Therefore, your hearts are to be wholly devoted to the LORD our God, to walk in His statutes and to keep His commandments, as [you are doing] today.”

The Scripture today also warns that the one walking in spiritual foolishness brings destruction upon themselves. Now, the verse doesn’t say that everything will come up roses! In fact, Jesus told us clearly,

“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]”

John 16:33 AMP

The promise is that if we hold fast to Him, He will hold fast to us never leaving or forsaking us! The choice is your today! Have a blessed day! Pastor Ken
