Valued Treasure

“Great and priceless treasure is in the house of the [consistently] righteous one [who seeks godly instruction and grows in wisdom],”

Proverbs 15:6 AMP

Our verse today reminds us of the rewards of living a righteous life. God has given His Word to us that we might know Him and that which pleases Him. Do you remember Proverbs 3:33?

“The curse of the LORD is on the house of the wicked, But He blesses the home of the just and righteous.”

Proverbs 3:33

One man may see that being crooked in his business dealings as a way to prosper. Some may see that weighting the scales in their favor will brin success. They however fail to realize that whatsoever a man sow, that shall he reap! The righteous man will seek to be fair and honest in all of his dealings. If you read Psalms 73 you will find a man who say the wicked prospering and was discouraged. Once he realizes the ultimate end of the wicked’ way he understands the loss they will suffer.

What separates the value of those approaches is a long-term perspective, especially one that looks into eternity. In Matthew 7:24–27 Jesus described the difference between a house built on sand and one built on a rock. The house on the sand fell victim to a flood, whereas the house on the rock stood firm. The house on the sand represents a life without Jesus’ words as its foundation. The house on a rock represents a life built on the foundation of Jesus’ words. In another passage of Scripture, Jesus spoke about a rich man who must have lived in a beautiful house. He lived the so-called good life. He wore expensive clothes and ate extremely well every day, but his life was not founded on the Lord, and at the end of his life he suffered the anguish of fire (Luke 16:19–24). His fate should serve as a warning to the wicked.

Keeping an eternal perspective isn’t easy when the things of this world are pushing hard against the ways of God. Our flesh is used to having its own way and it wants what it wants when it wants it! Living like this puts us then on the same level as an animal. Only concerned for its own preservation it stocks its prey and strikes hard!

The word treasure here is the word meaning “valuable material or possessions.” It is the same word used to describe the benefits of salvation! Isaiah references this as God speaks through him,

“The LORD is exalted, for He dwells on high; He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness. 6And He will be the security and stability of your times, A treasure of salvation, wisdom and knowledge; The fear of the LORD is your treasure.”

Isaiah 33:5-6 AMP

What a great promise from God to those who would trust in Him and walk in His ways. I am reminded of the verse about the purpose of the coming of Christ,

18“THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME (the Messiah), BECAUSE HE HAS ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOOD NEWS TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO ANNOUNCE RELEASE (pardon, forgiveness) TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED (downtrodden, bruised, crushed by tragedy),19TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD [the day when salvation and the favor of God abound greatly].”

Luke 4 18-19 AMP

The Scripture is clear,

“For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the LORD, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Jerimiah 20:11 AMP

Let me encourage you today to enter into the blessing of righteousness. We of course in and of ourselves can never attain the state of righteous. Because Jesus did attain it, He now is able to impute it to us who could not. That my friends os the being of the process of being conformed to image of God in our lives! Have a blessed
