“Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead) and Abaddon (the abyss, the place of eternal punishment) lie open before the LORD– How much more the hearts and inner motives of the children of men.”
Proverbs 15:11 AMP
A strong reminder today that nothing is hidden from the Lord. If you remember, we saw a verse previously in this same chapter.
“The eyes of the LORD are in every place, Watching the evil and the good [in all their endeavors].
Proverbs 15:3 AMP
Many people today take the approach that they are not accountable to a high authority. I remember another verse that strikes home,
“There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him, But its end is the way of death.”
Proverbs 14:12 AMP
Daily we see the results of the wisdom of man. Famine, wars, hate, and anger fill the streets of our cities. The ones who are supposed to be uniting the people are the greatest source of division! “Busy the masses by pitting them against each other while we enjoy the good life of plenty” seems to be the matra of our leadership. They think that their deception is hidden in the dark and will never come to light! I have news for them, The Scripture is clear,
“For there is nothing hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come out into the open.”
Luke 8:17 AMP
Look at our verse again, “Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead) and Abaddon (the abyss, the place of eternal punishment)” are both areas of the unseen reality of life. Even though they are beyond our visual perception, God sees them clearly! Not one of them will be lost in the great day of His judgement. The book of Revelations reminds us that,
“And I saw a great white throne and Him who was seated upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them [for this heaven and earth are passing away]. 12And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the Book of Life; and the dead were judged according to what they had done as written in the books [that is, everything done while on earth]. 13And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, and death and Hades (the realm of the dead) surrendered the dead who were in them; and they were judged and sentenced, every one according to their deeds. 14Then death and Hades [the realm of the dead] were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire [the eternal separation from God].15And if [anyone’s name was not found [written in the Book of Life, he was hurled into the lake of fire.”
Revelations 20:11:14 AMP
A “not so subtle” reminder that we may escape the judgment of God here but there will be a day of reckoning! Notice that the judgement spoken of here are the inner motivations that result in the outward actions.
Let me encourage you today that as we watch out governmental leaders lie and buy their way through lie, there will be a day of reconning! No one will escape the great day of the judgement of God. The only way through that terrible day will be to be hidden under the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ! We are once again reminded,
Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom (dominion, reign) of our God, and the authority of His Christ have come; for the ]accuser of our [believing] brothers and sisters has been thrown down [at last], he who accuses them and keeps bringing charges [of sinful behavior] against them before our God day and night. 11And they overcame and conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, for they did not love their life and renounce their faith even when faced with death. 12Therefore rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them [in the presence of God]. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you in great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time [remaining]!”
Revelations 12:10-12
My friends, our brothers and sisters are now experiencing the second part of this verse: “for they did not love their life and renounce their faith, even when faces with death.” Many are in danger of giving their lives for the cause of Christ. Please take time to reflect and pray that God would strengthen them and that you might also have the strength when your time comes! Have a blessed day, Pastor Ken
Amen! Powerful message pastor, and you are right. Praise God 🙌!
