Roll on!

Commit your works to the LORD [submit and trust them to Him], And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance].

Proverbs 16:3 AMP

Today’s verse reminds us that it is God who is at work to accomplish His will! Look at the last part of the verse, “[if you respond to His will and guidance.” I am immediately reminded of the verse,

“For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure.”

Philippians 2:13 AMP

God is moving us closer and closer to surrendering to His will. Each day as I am more conformed to the image of Christ in my life, His will and ways become part of who I am and what I do. We cannot in our own will or efforts yield to the will of God. As the Holy Spirit breaks down our self-seeking will, we naturally assimilate to God’s. God told His people,

“But now be courageous, Zerubbabel,’ declares the LORD, ‘be courageous also, Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and be courageous, all you people of the land,’ declares the LORD, ‘and work; for I am with you,’ declares the LORD of hosts.” Haggai 2:4 AMP

Paul wrote to the church at Rome,

“And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.”

Romans 8:28 AMP

Do yo see it? Many people quote this verse out of context. Paul is saying that it is according to “His plan and purpose.” Many times, we are angry with God because we didn’t get our way or answer we wanted to our prayers. Prayer is not a vending machine that you “insert one pray” and put comes the answer you want! Prayer brings us face to face with the creator of the universe so that we may know His will, not ours!

Our verse today focuses on the “works” that we do. The word here in Hebrew is the word meaning “the focused expenditure of energy in order to do or accomplish a goal or task; energy regularly expended to become a custom or habit as a particular pattern of behavior.” God is working through the Holy Spirit is conform us to image of His Son. Jesus gave us an example to follow for our life so we can be sure of what activity we should be engaged.

“For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but to do the will of Him who sent Me.”

John 6:38 AMP

If the servant is not greater than the Master, then we too must be about the Father’s business. I have always said the greatest deception Satan has purposed against man is that we are living now and going to die when in reality, we are dying now, and we are going to live! If we have that perspective on this life, then we are able to focus on what God is doing through us and are motivated to finish the task at hand! Remember that t steward is only the keeper of the Master’s things! When the Master is in need of it the steward releases it to Master for His good pleasure! The word commit in the opening of the verse is the word meaning to “roll on without stopping.” As an object begins to move forward, inertial takes over. As the object moves it begins to gain speed and continue to move forward unless acted upon by resistance it cannot overcome. Sin is that resistance in our lives. Nothing can against the work of God but sin can and does hinder our forward motion!

Take time today to spend with Him. Allow the Holy Spirit to melt and mold you into a vessel of honor and power to accomplish everything He has called you to do! Have a blessed day and ROLL ON! Pastor Ken
