“The highway of the upright turns away and departs from evil; He who guards his way protects his life (soul).”
Proverbs 16:17 AMP
A great reminder today that repentance requires a change of direction. The word repent actually mean “to change one’s mind; to adopt another view or to change one’s purpose.” The Scripture is clear about our condition before the cross.
“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor (perversely) effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers [whose words are used as weapons to abuse, insult, humiliate, intimidate, or slander], nor swindlers will inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God. 11And such were some of you [before you believed]. But you were washed [by the atoning sacrifice of Christ], you were sanctified [set apart for God, and made holy], you were justified [declared free of guilt] in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the [Holy] Spirit of our God [the source of the believer’s new life and changed behavior].”
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 AMP
Notice that the focus on this section is not highlighting any particular sin. In fact, this is just a short list of all of the many failings of man! U Sin is sin whether it is killing your neighbor or taking that pen from the office that doesn’t belong to you! The good news of this verse at verse 11. Read that verse again! De you see it? “You were” “before you believed” “washed” “sanctified” “set apart” “made holy” “Justified” “free” in the Holy Spirt, THE SOURCE OF THE BELIEVER’S NEW LIFE! All the darkness of the preceding verse washed away so that He can show us the workmanship of His love! I can clearly remember that the morning after I cried out to God to break the bond of the drugs, everything seemed clearer, brighter, and calmer! I know beyond a shadow of doubt that God had set me free! The time had come now that I embrace that freedom and begin to walk the road of change. Where in the past I never even would have bothered to listen for the voice of the Lord. Now however, every time I went to the Word He was speaking loudly and clearly, “This is the way, walk ye in it!” I am reminded of the Statements of Jesus about the road of righteousness.
“But small is the gate and narrow and difficult to travel is the path that leads the way to [everlasting] life, and there are few who find it.”
Matthew 7:14 AMP
Those living in the deception of the enemy will never find the path because the evil way has been abundantly provided for them. That is why our testimony is so critical. We may be the only light to the path someone will ever see! On the other hand, God told us who are on the road of righteousness that,
“Then the eyes of the blind will be opened And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. 6Then the lame will leap like a deer, And the tongue of the mute will shout for joy. For waters will break forth in the wilderness And streams in the desert.7And the burning sand (mirage) will become a pool [of water] And the thirsty ground springs of water; In the haunt of jackals, where they lay resting, Grass becomes reeds and rushes. 8A highway will be there, and a roadway; And it will be called the Holy Way. The unclean will not travel on it, But it will be for those who walk on the way [the redeemed]; And fools will not wander on it. “
Isaiah 35:5-8 AMP
AMEN! God will retore the parched and scared land of our lives! Look at those words, “a highway will be there and a roadway; and it will be called the highway of holiness!” If we continue to walk with God, the way into His Kingdom will be so wide we cannot miss it! That does mean however that the choice is ours. By walking the highway of holiness will protect our life and soul! Have a blessed day, Pastor Ken
Hallelujah!
You are right a man of God.
Praise God!
