“For I am convinced [and continue to be convinced–beyond any doubt] that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present and threatening, nor things to come, nor powers, 39nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the [unlimited] love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
We hear a lot today about the need for acceptance in our lives. Every human being on the planet seems to struggle with this area. The poor, the rich, the famous, the obscure can never seem to satisfy that single area of life! “Accept me!” is the unanswered desire of every heart. The good news of the Gospel is that God has accepted you! He has adopted you into His family, put the royal robe of welcome around your shoulders and led you to His banquet table!
As a follower of Jesus, we have the assurance of acceptance through the seal of the Holy Spirit in our hearts.
“In Him, you also, when you heard the word of truth, the good news of your salvation, and [as a result] believed in Him, were stamped with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit [the One promised by Christ] as owned and protected [by God]. 14The Spirit is the guarantee [the first installment, the pledge, a foretaste] of our inheritance until the redemption of God’s own [purchased] possession [His believers], to the praise of His glory.”
Ephesians 1:13-14 AMP
Notice that the requirement of acceptance is the hearing and responding to the Good News! Once we embrace forgiveness through Christ, God places His Holy Spirit in us so that we may be assured of our standing before Him. The problem comes when people try to quiet the conviction of the Holy Spirit about sin in their life with the demanding of acceptance. They think that if the world accepts their sin so will God! What a foolish precept!
My friends there is nothing more you can do that will make God more proud of you or more loving toward you! His love was demonstrated on the cross when He took the penalty for your sin! Take time today to cultivate your relationship with the Holy Spirit. Listen for the voice of love proclaiming, “I love you!” Have a blessed day.
