Doubting?

“When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.”

Psalms 94:19 AMP

Doubt is the greatest enemy of faith! The dictionary defines doubt as “a feeling of uncertainty; A lack of conviction.” Do you see it? Doubt is a felling…not a reality! The word conviction is defined as “the quality of showing that one is firmly convinced of what one believes or says.” WOW! Sounds like what our relationship with God is supposed to be like and our reliance of the Scriptures! In these times it is easy to allow things like worry and fear to consume us and get our eyes off the reality and security of walking with God! One of my favorite verses in the Scripture is found in the book of 1st Timothy.

“This is why I suffer as I do. Still, I am not ashamed; for I know Him [and I am personally acquainted with Him] whom I have believed [with absolute trust and confidence in Him and in the truth of His deity], and I am persuaded [beyond any doubt] that He is able to guard that which I have entrusted to Him until that day [when I stand before Him].”

1 Timothy 1:12 AMP

Can you see what the Apostle is saying? He is not ashamed of his choice to serve Christ and that it is because he is “personally acquainted with Him.” Look at the strength of the words used here; “absolute trust and confidence in Him,” “persuaded beyond a shadow of a doubt!” You see, it the depth of our relationship with Jesus that determines the response in our lives. We should be firmly convinced and persuaded that He is able! The Scripture tells us that Abraham,

“In hope against hope Abraham believed that he would become a father of many nations, as he had been promised [by God]: “SO [numberless] SHALL YOUR DESCENDANTS BE.” 19Without becoming weak in faith he considered his own body, now as good as dead [for producing children] since he was about a hundred years old, and [he considered] the deadness of Sarah’s womb. 20But he did not doubt or waver in unbelief concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and empowered by faith, giving glory to God, 21being fully convinced that God had the power to do what He had promised.”

Romans 4:18-21 AMP

Abraham and Sarah were far beyond the days of childbearing yet, Abraham “without becoming weak in faith,” trusted in the promise of God. In fact, this verse tells us that he “grew and strong and empowered by faith” in the middle of what was an impossible situation! Remember this,

“Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, 21to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen.”

Ephesians 3:20-21 AMP

What great and encouraging words the Apostle is giving us as we take this journey of faith! Look at those words, “superabundantly,” “infinitely beyond our greatest prayers,” “according to His power that is at work WITIN US!”

My fellow travelers, remember today that your point of unbelief, your greatest doubts, and your darkest fears are all washed away in the light of the truth of His Word! I encourage you today to simply receive from His Word, stand in faith, and see the glory of God manifest in your life! May then the peace that passing understanding guard your heart! Have a faithful day, Pastor Ken.
