A Purposeful Life

“Now He who has made us and prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave us the [Holy] Spirit as a pledge [a guarantee, a down payment on the fulfillment of His promise].” 2 Corinthians 5:5 AMP

For many believers, life is nothing more than rote activity which soon results in a daily struggle just to get out of bed! Day in and day out they go through the motions and constantly wonder if there is more to life than this monotonous routine. The Bible gives us a clear solution to this problem,

“For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].”

Ephesians 2:10 AMP

Believers that have found out this truth have lived life with purpose and victory! Look at the words used here; “prepared us,” “purpose,” gave us a pledge,” and “fulfilment of His promise!” Everything we need to enter this exciting future has been made available to us through the cross. The question is, “Have you entered into the destiny God has prepared for you?” The Apostle Paul was talking to the church about the reality of our previous life. We were engaged wholeheartedly with sin and influenced by the world following its empty promises! He reminded them that they have been raised up with Christ and made “spiritually alive” in Christ. The glorious truth is that we were created and redeemed to glorify, airship, and SERVE God. When God is the center of our life, He pours out His blessings and life changes form a monotonous routine to an unimaginable adventure. True, adventure is fraught with challenges and obstacles, but rest assured that we have the Holy Spirit to give us the power and will to see the adventure through! Many of us sit around watching great adventure movies and desire to have one like Indian Jones! The truth is, you can! The greatest adventure in this world awaits you if you will only embrace the Savior and forsake this life!

I can personally testify that living life on the edge with God has been an adventure that I could have never imagined! Flown around the world 4 time! Served in the palace of kings! Proclaimed the Gospel in more than 20 countries! Yes, there were challenging times. Those moments however were opportunities to see the hand of God move in mighty ways! A good friend of mine who was called to the Amazon Jungle when I asked him if he had reservation about going. His answer has remained with me to this day; “Let me tell you, lots of people want a dynamic testimony of the power of God. The problem is, there is no testimony without a test!

Let me encourage you today if you have found your Christian experience to be a bore, get off the couch and get on your knees and pray, “God here I am, use me!” Then look for the opportunity that He will provide. When it comes, embrace it will all the determination and energy you have put into the temporal things of this world!
