Truth?

“The mind of the prudent [always] acquires knowledge, And the ear of the wise [always] seeks knowledge.” Proverbs 18:15 AMP

Good advice for those who desire to be prosperous and in right-standing with God! I love the fact that God is not afraid of man to do good research and investigation into any matter concerning Him or the life He has given to us. Remember the proposition of God to the wayward?

“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be like wool.”

Isaiah 1:18 AMP

The word “Reason” here is the Hebrew word meaning to “prove a legal argument; Being found right and without charges or accusations.” It means that all of the evidence was exhausted, and the case found to be true and correct! God is not afraid of the truth because it is the truth! The issue at hand is if one is willing to accept the truth or to continue to live in a state of delusion and confusion! The truth will always “set you free!” Today’s generation has been deceived into believing the lie of the enemy that truth is relevant to your circumstances. Nothing could be further from the truth. Chaos endues when one begins disregarding truth and embracing emotionalism disguised and intellectualism! We are told that we are getting smarter, but we see actions and activity that demonstrate that we are getting dumber! It seems as if common sense has taken a vacation!

That is exactly the problem, we no longer have a “common sense!” How can that exist if everyone has a different idea and standard by which to measure reality? Suddenly we find ourselves driven by “What feels good to us” instead of adapting to the reality of cosmic principles that have ruled the universe! One can believe that if they jump off of a 5-story room they will float gracefully to the ground, but give it a try and you will suddenly be reminded of the reality of truth! Our verse today reminds us that we should pursue truth and acquire knowledge!

The word translated “prudent” is the Hebrew word meaning to “have a specialized knowledge that is effectively implemented; to have received instruction and been mastered; to comprehend information and be able to make proper decisions, judgements, and actions based on that information; To process information and respond appropriately.” I am reminded Jesus’ words in the Gospel of John;

“When many of His disciples heard this, they said, “This is a difficult and harsh and offensive statement. Who can [be expected to] listen to it?” 61But Jesus, aware that His disciples were complaining about it, asked them, “Does this cause you to stumble and take offense? 62What then [will you think] if you see the Son of Man ascending to [the realm] where He was before? 63It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh conveys no benefit [it is of no account]. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life [providing eternal life]. 64But [still] there are some of you who do not believe and have faith.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who did not believe, and who would betray Him.

John 6:60-63 AMP

I cannot think of a better description of the time in which we are living! People are stumbling of the reality of God’s Word and living by the desire and feeling of the flesh instead just as He predicated! His words are the truth place of truth and life if we will but believe! If you want to live an ordered and disciplined life then spend time receiving from His Word!

“My son, if you will receive my words And treasure my commandments within you, 2So that your ear is attentive to [skillful and godly] wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding [seeking it conscientiously and striving for it eagerly];3Yes, if you cry out for insight, And lift up your voice for understanding; 4If you seek skillful and godly wisdom as you would silver And search for her as you would hidden treasures;5Then you will understand the [reverent] fear of the LORD [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] And discover the knowledge of God.”

Have a blessed day with the King of kings! Pastor Ken
