Worried?

“For He will give His angles (especially) charge over you, To protect and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service]. 12They will lift you up in their hands, So that you do not [even] strike your foot against a stone.” Psalms 91:11-12 AMP

The command of our Lord is to follow Him one step at a time! We are not to take notice or fret about what the future holds as it is Him who holds it in His hands! The Scripture tells us that,

“Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.” Psalms 119:105 AMP

Notice that it does not say a telescope to see where you will go! Too many times we are more interested in the “where we are going” instead of “where we are!” We see the mountains and desert in front of us and begin to wonder how we will scale such great heights or survive such harsh environment. I love the name God has given Himself, “I Am.” That should be a reminder that He does not dwell in the past for then His name would be “I Was.” Nor is His name “I Will be” for that implies that at the present He is not with us. “I Am” assures us that He is with us now! Remember the words found in the book of Hebrews?

“Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature] be free from the love of money [shun greed–be financially ethical], being content with what you have; for He has said, “I WILL NEVER [under any circumstances] DESERT YOU [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], NOR WILL I FORSAKE or LET YOU DOWN or RELAX MY HOLD ON YOU [assuredly not]!” 6So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently say, “THE LORD IS MY HELPER [in time of need], I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?” Hebrews 13:5-6 AMP

Do you see it? “…being content with what you have; for He has said, “I WILL NEVER [under any circumstances] DESERT YOU [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], NOR WILL I FORSAKE or LET YOU DOWN or RELAX MY HOLD ON YOU [assuredly not]!” That can give us the ability to relax in the present moment and know the He is God! How is that we are so concerned about the future that we sacrifice the here and now and think that by our own efforts we can secure it?  Living in the “what if” is the playground for the tactics of the enemy!” Can we really say that we control what will happen in the future? Living in the “I Am” mode of life is where true peace and rest can be found. If by chance the road takes you to the desert or the mountain, surely, He will prepare the way before you ever take the first step of that journey. The Apostle Paul reminded the Corinthians,

“So then, being always filled with good courage and confident hope, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord– 7for we walk by faith, not by sight [living our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in God’s promises]” 2 Corinthians 5:7 AMP

What a beautiful verse indeed! Let me ask you today, are you always filled with good courage? Are you confident that He who began a good work in you will fulfill it? These are just two reasons why we must develop our relationship with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit isn’t a vaporous entity floating around the world, no! The Holy Spirit is the living God taking up residence in our body! We are told that He is the seal of the promise that Jesus gave to us to never leave us or forsake us!

“so that we who were the first to hope in Christ [who first put our confidence in Him as our Lord and Savior] would exist to the praise of His glory. 13In Him, you also, when you heard the word of truth, the good news of your salvation, and [as a result] believed in Him, were stamped with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit [the One promised by Christ] as owned and protected [by God]. 14The Spirit is the guarantee [the first installment, the pledge, a foretaste] of our inheritance until the redemption of God’s own [purchased] possession [His believers], to the praise of His glory.” Ephesians 1:12-14 AMP

Let me encourage you today that you are owned and protected by the Lord God Almighty if you have surrendered your life to Christ. If not, why not surrender today to the One who loves you most! Have a blessed day, Pastor Ken
