“He who is slow to anger is better and more honorable than the mighty [soldier],
And he who rules and controls his own spirit, than he who captures a city.” Proverbs 16:32 AMP
It seems like people anger so easily today at the smallest of things. The news reports of those incidents of road-rage ending in extreme violence and even death! Those who anger easily are prone to explode with violent outbursts of emotion and action. It should not be so in the life of the Christian. That is not the path of true love.
The Bible tells us that when we gave our lives to Christ, God in return placed within us His Holy Spirit.
“And Peter said to them, “Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38 AMP
If that is the case, the fruits of the Holy Spirit should be abounding in our lives! Love never despairs about people and does not get impatient with them. Let’s be real. The reason we get angry most of the times is because we feel that we have been violated in some way. The reality is though, if we have entered the waters of baptism, it is no longer me that is alive but rather Christ that is now living through me. As I entered the waters of baptism I identified with the death and burial of our Lord and Savior. A dead man cannot be offended of claim any rights! The Apostle Paul told the believers in Rome,
“Or are you ignorant of the fact that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4We have therefore been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory and power of the Father, we too might walk habitually in newness of life [abandoning our old ways]: Romans 6:3-4 AMP
Our verse today reminds of the fact that we should always be in control of our emotions. Anger is a trap that Satan uses to discredit our testimony and bring disparage on the name of Christ! Jesus told His disciples,
“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 AMP
We must always remember that we are epistles written unto this world. Everything we say and do reflects where we are in our relationship to Christ. My prayer for you is that every day and in every way you will grow closer to the reflection of Him who has set you free from the law of sin and death! Have a blessed day, Pastor Ken
