“I know how to get along and live humbly [in difficult times], and I also know how to enjoy abundance and live in prosperity. In any and every circumstance I have learned the secret [of facing life], whether well-fed or going hungry, whether having an abundance or being in need. 13I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose–I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]” Philippians 4:11-13 AMP
Impatience and impulsiveness are often the reasons for hasty decisions that are later regretted! The Christian life requires discipline, patience, and unconditional trust. We must always remember and yield to the fact that it is God who is at work in us to accomplish HIS will, not ours! The good news however is that as we are conformed to the image of Christ in our lives, our will becomes His and we learn to walk with Him hand in hand! I can really appreciate the Apostle’s take on life, “I know how to get along and live humbly in difficult times.” It is in the difficult times that the fire of the cleansing power of the Holy Spirit can do its work. The key to it developing steadfastness which in today’s chaotic times, compromise is an easy and preferable path. Jesus told His disciples,
“but so that the world may know [without any doubt] that I love the Father, I do exactly as the Father has commanded Me [and act in full agreement with Him]. Get up, let us go from here.” John 14:31 AMP
Interestingly he said this on the heels of a promise,
““I have told you these things while I am still with you. 26But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor–Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you. 27Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]” John 14:25-27 AMP
What calming words, “Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.” The key to steadfastness in found in the growing relationship we have with our Savior. The more we get to know Him and experience His love, the more we are able to trust and obey!
I pray today that you would experience the peace that passes understanding. May you find sufficiency and grace so that you may be infused with the power of the Holy Spirit and His confidant peace! Pastor Ken
