His Thoughts Toward You

“For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the LORD, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jerimiah 29:11 AMP

What a contrast from most people’s view of God! I can remember that all I thought was that Goss was an angry old man about to drop judgment on my head! Nothing could be further from the truth. As soon as there is some disaster people ask, “How could a loving God let that happen?” Well, they seem to bae asking the wrong question. The problem is that sin has taken hold of the hearts of the wicked and we see the results daily!  The Scripture is clear,

““The heart is deceitful above all things And it is extremely sick; Who can understand it fully and know its secret motives?” Jerimiah 17:6 AMP

The Hebrew word deceitful used here is an adjective meaning to “leave a trail that can be followed.” It means that the resulting action is that of a purpose and not happenstance. In this verse it represents the resulting action from a “sick heart.” The word used here means “incurable, beyond cure; a wound or illness that cannot be healed.” The people had sinned against God and walked out from under His cover. He reminds them that the situation they are in is of their own making.

““For thus says the LORD, ‘Your wound is incurable And your injury is beyond healing.” Jerimiah 30:12 AMP

The nature of sin is exactly that, incurable. The only remedy prescribed for the problem is death, death to oneself! If we want to receive from the promise of the Lord in the opening verse, total surrender is the only way! The Apostle Paul reminds us of this truth.

“We have therefore been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory and power of the Father, we too might walk habitually in newness of life [abandoning our old ways]. 5For if we have become one with Him [permanently united] in the likeness of His death, we will also certainly be [one with Him and share fully] in the likeness of His resurrection. 6We know that our old [c]self [our human nature without the Holy Spirit] was nailed to the cross with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin.” Romans 6:4-7 AMP

Jesus has made a way for us to escape the power of sin that has sought to destroy our lives and service to God! The mission of Christ was clear from the beginning,

“Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows; yet we considered Him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted. / But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” Isiah 6:6 AMP I pray today that you experience the freeing power of the shed blood of Jesus Christ. May the blood of the Lamb dissolve the chains of bondage that the enemy has
