Where Do I Fit?

“All these things [the gifts, the achievements, the abilities, the empowering] are brought about by one and the same [Holy] Spirit, distributing to each one individually just as He chooses.” 1 Corinthains 12:11 AMP

You are important! Our verse today reminds us that we are not where we are by chance. Many times, I wonder if I am in the right place doing the right thing for the right reason. If I do not believe the Word of God, then I should be concerned about those things! This verse however should remove all doubt and fear of missing the call of God. First, we should remember that we are not the designer of the plan! The Bible is clear on that issue.

“For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13 AMP

I love this verse because not only does it tell me that it is God who is working His plan, it says that He is also empowering me to do it! We must remember that there is no single formula that we can apply to our lives to be sure we are doing the right thing. Oh yes, prayer, Bible reading, and fellowship are foundational to success however, God works in different ways and through different channels in each of our lives. The Apostle Paul recognized this in writing to the Corinthian church.

“And there are [distinctive] ways of working [to accomplish things], but it is the same God who produces all things in all believers [inspiring, energizing, and empowering them].’ 1 Corinthians 12:6 AMP

That really takes the pressure off when I try to compare myself to others who seem to be having great success! What is good for the goose isn’t necessarily good for the gander! We should always remember that there are points of contact common to all called by Christ.

“Make every effort to keep the oneness of the Spirit in the bond of peace [each individual working together to make the whole successful]. 4There is one body [of believers] and one Spirit–just as you were called to one hope when called [to salvation]– 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6one God and Father of us all who is [sovereign] over all and [working] through all and [living] in all.” Ephesians 4:3-6 AMP

Notice that Paul emphasized that “each individual working together” makes the whole a success! The plate, the cup, the water, and the cross are the meeting place for each and every one of us! I encourage you today to take a look and see where you fit in your local body. Being a member of a fellowship isn’t about what you can receive, it is however important for you to recognize what you can contribute. Not only is your tithe important to the success of the work, your presence, spiritual gift, and participation is of paramount importance to the ministry! Have a blessed day, Pastor Ken
