The Person

“I have told you these things while I am still with you. 26But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor–Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.” John 14:25-26 AMP

Speaking to His disciples Jesus makes an astounding statement. Here we find the ministry of the Holy Spirit introduced to the disciples. Since the promise of the Father is to all who will follow, we can state that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is still at work in the life of the believer today.

“And Peter said to them, “Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39For the promise [of the Holy Spirit] is for you and your children and for all who are far away [including the Gentiles], as many as the Lord our God calls to Himself.” Acts 2:30-39 AMP

Again, I am not talking about the gifts of the Holy Spirit but rather the gift to of the Holy Spirit to you! If this battle we are in is Spiritual in nature, then we need guidance from the Spiritual realm of this existence. Many have the wrong perception about the Holy Spirit attributing Him to a gaseous like substance floating around the universe. We must realize that He is the third person of the Godhead and as such a person and has personality traits. We are told that we should not grieve the Holy Spirit. We see that Ananias and Sophia lied to the Holy Spirit. A gaseous substance cannot be grieved or lied to! It only goes to reason that if the Holy Spirit is a person, then we can have a relationship with Him. Look at all of the responsibilities that He has been given; Comforter, Advocate, Councilor, Strengthener, and Friend! I we truly want to win this battle we need the guidance from someone who understand the terms of engagement, the Holy Spirit.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places.” Ephesians 6:12 AMP

If you have never had a conversation with the Holy Spirit, I urge you today to get a cup of coffee, sit in a quiet place and begin your relationship with the One who can lead you to victory! Have a blessed day, Pastor Ken
