“For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given; And the government shall be upon His shoulder, And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 AMP
Ever since the fall of man there has not been peace on earth! When sin entered humanities existence, toil, turmoil, and terror have stoked man. The result of man’s disobedience was a pervasive corruption that brings death, broken relationships, suffering, disease, disharmony and a disruption to the perfect design of God and intention for man. A loss of joy and peace is so present in our day and age as many try to silence the defining sound of separation from God. Our verse today promises us of a coming day when that peace and joy will be restored! While we have tasted a small part of that restoration when we turned our lives over to Christ, we have yet to experience the fullness of the redemptive act of Christ! As we enter the Christmas season, we should never forget the ultimate sacrifice God made to ransomed us back to Himself!
““For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 AMP
Nothing short of the sacrifice of His Son would satisfy the legal requirement of sin for the wages of sin is death! This Christmas season do not be fooled by the temporary feelings of peace and joy! The Scripture tells us that we can find real peace and joy for the year-round.
“Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. 7And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].” Philippians 4:6-7 AMP
Do you trust Him today? Have you settled your account with the supreme judge? Are you still struggling to try and “make it right?” The key to this gift of peace and joy can only be found in your relationship with Christ! Remember that He counted the cost of your worth and gave His life so you also can be at peace with heaven and earth.
“[looking away from all that will distract us and] focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of faith [the first incentive for our belief and the One who brings our faith to maturity], who for the joy [of accomplishing the goal] set before Him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God [revealing His deity, His authority, and the completion of His work].” Hebrews 12:12 AMP
