“But those who seek my life to destroy it Will [be destroyed and] go into the depths of the earth [into the underworld].” Psalm 63:9 AMP
Did you know that you are in a spiritual battle for your life. Satan and his cohorts have one single plan for you…to lie, kill, and destroy your life. Many a person has found themselves in prison asking the question, “How did I get here?” Life destroyed, family destroyed, relationships destroyed and to what end? The Bible is clear when it comes to the reality of who it is battling against us.
“Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 AMP
Clearly states here the Holy Spirit is trying to get our attention to the reality of this battle. Many of us have been fooled into believing that our behavior and life would bring about a different result. We have tasted the reality of the battle, but God has been gracious to open our eyes to the reality of our addictions and sin. Read those words carefully… “That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.” There is an interesting verse in the book of Ezekiel talking about the work of sin.
“There is a conspiracy of her [false] prophets in her midst, like a roaring lion tearing the prey. They have devoured [human] life; they have taken [in their greed] treasure and precious things; they have made many widows among her.” Ezekiel 22:25 AMP
This is not a game or a “nice thought.” The enemy of our soul is relentless and successful because many do not embrace the reality of their situation and reality of the work of Satan. The Apostle Paul warned of the battle for our life.
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places.” Ephesians 6:12 AMP
If we try to win the battle in the flesh, we will fail. That is generally the reason why most programs that do not deal with the spiritual part of life have a high failure rate. Again Paul gives us a key to the spiritual battle.
“For though we live in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh. / The weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the flesh. Instead, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. / We demolish arguments and every presumption set up against the knowledge of God; and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 AMP
Look again at 1 Peter 5:8, “Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times…” Freedom in Christ give us the ability TO be self-disciplined and balanced. The power of Christ destroys the demonic forces at work against us! We read that in the end, those demonic forces who seeking to destroy our life will all be cast into the lake of fire with their master and man will free once again from the power of the enemy! I implore you today, do not be fooled or blinded by the reality that Satan and his minions are just a fairy tale! The enemy is real, the battle is fierce, and the power of the blood of Jesus Christ has brought freedom to those of us who were lost in our sin! Have a sober, well balanced and self-disciplined day!
