“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” Psalm 32:8 KJV
A great promise today from the Lord. Every disciple is called to be a learner. What a better teacher than the One who created it all! The verse uses the words instruct and teach to describe the activity of God in our daily life. The word instruct here is a qualifier of the one teaching. It qualifies the teacher because of their “having understanding by practical, first person experience.” It infers the ability of the teacher to “accomplish the activity thoroughly and with great success.” The book of Hebrews makes an astounding statement about our Lord and Savior.
“For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize and understand our weaknesses and temptations, but One who has been tempted [knowing exactly how it feels to be human] in every respect as we are, yet without [committing any] sin. 16Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment].” Hebrews 14:15-16 AMP
What a great comfort to know that He understands our weaknesses. The doors of heaven are always open if we would but just enter them! Many times, during our struggle we fail to reach out for fear that God will reject us. Notice that the above verse uses the words grace, favor, and mercy to show His response to our weaknesses. He has “first person” experience of life as we experience it. He wasn’t exempt from anything that the enemy can through at us and yet maintained a perfect life. He is qualified to be the great teacher of our life!
The Hebrew word to teach is the word describing military instruction for an archer. You see the goal of the instruction is to prepare us for the spiritual battle we face each and every day in our lives! The Scripture is clear that we are in a battle for our life and need to understand how to fight the good fight. Since it is spiritual in nature we need someone who can see into the spiritual realm
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places.” Ephesians 6:12 AMP
Let’s look again to the book of Hebrews to and see what is says about our teacher Jesus.
“Therefore, since [these His] children share in flesh and blood [the physical nature of mankind], He Himself in a similar manner also shared in the same [physical nature, but without sin], so that through [experiencing] death He might make powerless (ineffective, impotent) him who had the power of death—that is, the devil—” Hebrews 2:14 AMP
Because of His finished work on the cross we can experience victory in our lives! If we are willing to take instruction from our teacher, He will lead us to victory! Notice at the end of our verse today it says that He will guide us with HIS eye! What a great comfort that He is able to see the dangers and battles and give us the keys of victory!
Let me ask you today…are you willing? Are you willing to submit to His instruction and then put it to action? Many know the Scriptures, but they have never experienced the POWER of the Scripture because that requires one to put the Word to use! Take time today to seek the one who can see it all and guide you on a path of victory. Have a blessed day, Pastor Ken
