Blessed Through Discipline – Psalm 94:12–14

“Blessed with wisdom and prosperity is the man whom You discipline and instruct, O LORD,
And whom You teach from Your law, That You may grant him power to calm himself and find peace in the days of adversity…For the LORD will not abandon His people, Nor will He abandon His inheritance.” Psalm 94:12–14 AMP

It can feel difficult at times to walk in the ways of the Lord. We live in a world that often opposes His truth where the ways of God are rejected and misunderstood. But this is not new. From the beginning, humanity has struggled with sin and the desire to go its own way. Yet our passage today gives us a different perspective. It tells us that the one who is disciplined and instructed by the Lord is blessed.

Discipline is not punishment, it is training. It teaches us how to walk in wisdom, how to make better decisions, and how to live in a way that aligns with God’s truth. And according to this Psalm, the result is powerful: peace in the midst of adversity

God’s correction is not meant to harm us, it is meant to prosper us. It is calming to our hearts.
It guides our steps. It keep us from becoming like those who ignore His ways. The Psalm reminds us that while the wicked may appear to prosper for a time, they will ultimately be held accountable. But for those who belong to God, there is a different promise: “The LORD will not abandon His people.” That truth matters, especially when life feels overwhelming. The Psalmist points that out as he also is struggling with the evil surrounding him. He reminds himself that,

“When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your comforts delight me.” Psalm 94:19 AMP

Jesus spoke similar words to His disciples when they were troubled:

“Peace I leave with you; My perfect peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.” John 14:27 AMP

Peace is not found in the absence of difficulty; it is found in the presence of God. In a world full of noise, confusion, and competing voices, it is easy to become distracted or discouraged. But we are called to remain anchored, to keep our eyes fixed on what is eternal. God’s discipline leads us there. There seems to be no end to the demand of Satan to accept his perverted ways and just give in! But…be of good cheer, He has overcome the world.

Let me encourage you today with the closing verse today, “For the LORD will not abandon His people, Nor will He abandon His inheritance.” If you keep your eyes set on things above, the things of this world will grow strangely dim! Have a blessed day and remember…WE WIN! Pastor Ken
