“The LORD has made known His salvation; He has openly revealed His righteousness in the sight of the nations. He has graciously remembered His lovingkindness and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; All the ends of the earth have witnessed the salvation of our God.”
Psalm 98:2–3 AMP
These opening words remind us that God is not silent about His salvation—He has made it known. From the beginning, God has been revealing His plan to redeem humanity. In the Old Testament, salvation often referred to deliverance from physical enemies, but it also pointed forward to something greater—spiritual deliverance. We see this promise as early as God’s covenant with Abraham:
“And I will bless, do good for, and benefit those who bless you, And I will curse that is, subject to My wrath and judgment the one who curses, despises, dishonors, has contempt for you. And in you all the families nations of the earth will be blessed.” Genesis 12:3 AMP
This promise continued through the prophets, pointing to the coming of the Messiah. In Jesus Christ, that promise was fulfilled. Salvation is no longer limited in scope, it is offered to all who believe.
“For there is no distinction between Jew and Gentile; for the same Lord is Lord over all of us, and He is abounding in riches and blessings for all who call on Him in faith and prayer” Romans 10:12 AMP
God has not only provided salvation, but Our verse also tells us that God has openly displayed the reality of His righteousness. The Apostle Paul describes this powerful moment:
When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, and the worldliness manner of life, God made you alive together with Christ, having freely forgiven us all our sins, 14having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of legal demands [which were in force] against us and which were hostile to us. And this certificate He has set aside and completely removed by nailing it to the cross. 15When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities [those supernatural forces of evil operating against us], He made a public example of them [exhibiting them as captives in His triumphal procession], having triumphed over them through the cross.” Colossians 2:13–15 AMP
This was not done in secret. God demonstrated His righteousness, His justice and faithfulness through the cross of Christ. He is not begrudgingly providing forgiveness to His children, He joyously bestows upon us that we did not deserve! He has “graciously remembered His lovingkindness and His faithfulness.”
God is not reluctant in His mercy. He does not forgive begrudgingly. He gives freely, joyfully, and completely. What we could never earn, He has freely given. So take time today to reflect on the lovingkindness of God toward you.
