Taste and See

“O taste and see that the LORD [our God] is good; How blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who takes refuge in Him.” Psalms 34:8 AMP

I want to take a few moments today to talk about the importance of intimacy with God. Aside from the reality of our salvation through Jesus’ death on the cross, we have been given a great and precious gift of access to the throne room of grace! Before sin ravaged and ruined our relationship with God, man had the opportunity to walk in unbroken communion with his creator.

Man was created to have fellowship with God! We were created with innate and distinctive ability to commune with our creator. Sin however destroyed the connection and ravaged the relationship. The cross provides for the restoration of the relationship through the forgiveness of sin!

“Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, so death spread to all people [no one being able to stop it or escape its power], because they all sinned.” Romans 5:12 AMP

The wall of separation could not be breached or overcome by the actions of men. We read in the book of Hebrews the following,

“Therefore, since [these His] children share in flesh and blood [the physical nature of mankind], He Himself in a similar manner also shared in the same [physical nature, but without sin], so that through [experiencing] death He might make powerless (ineffective, impotent) him who had the power of death–that is, the devil– 15and [that He] might free all those who through [the haunting] fear of death were held in slavery throughout their lives.” Hebrews 2:14-15 AMP

I love the report of the veil in the temple being rent in two at the moment Jesus uttered the words, “it is finished!”

“And Jesus cried out again with a loud [agonized] voice, and gave up His spirit [voluntarily, sovereignly dismissing and releasing His spirit from His body in submission to His Father’s plan]. 51And [at once] the veil [of the Holy of Holies] of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; the earth shook and the rocks were split apart.” Matthew 27:50-51 AMP

It was an earth-shaking event! The veil symbolically stood as a reminder that man was separated from God’s presence. The day that Jesus triumphed over sin, access was resorted through the veil to heaven again!

“But when Christ appeared as a High Priest of the good things to come [that is, true spiritual worship], He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not a part of this [material] creation. 12He went once for all into the Holy Place [the Holy of Holies of heaven, into the presence of God], and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, having obtained and secured eternal redemption [that is, the salvation of all who personally believe in Him as Savior].” Hebrews 9:11 AMP

The writer goes on to tell us of the benefit of the work of Christ in restoring the relationship that was long broken.

“Therefore,  believers, since we have confidence and full freedom to enter the Holy Place [the place where God dwells] by [means of] the blood of Jesus, 20by this new and living way which He initiated and opened for us through the veil [as in the Holy of Holies], that is, through His flesh, 21and since we have a great and wonderful Priest [Who rules] over the house of God, 22let us approach [God] with a true and sincere heart in unqualified assurance of faith, having had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” Hebrews 10:19-22 AMP

I love it! We have FULL freedom to enter the Holy Place! God’s call to us today is to “come taste and see the goodness of our God! Have you taken time to day to enter the throne room of grace and receive from the goodness of God? He is waiting anxiously to spend time with you. Are you ready? Have a blessed day, Pastor Ken
