Shining!

“Blessed and happy are the people who know the joyful sound [of the trumpet’s blast]! They walk, O LORD, in the light and favor of Your countenance. 16In Your name they rejoice all the day, And in Your righteousness they are exalted. 17For You are the glory of their strength [their proud adornment], And by Your favor our horn is exalted.” Psalms 89:15-18 AMP

The beginning of the Psalm is a prophecy of the coming of the Messiah to rescue the people! We read the following about that promise.

“[God has said] “I have made a covenant with My chosen one; I have sworn to David My servant, 4I will establish your seed forever And I will build up your throne for all generations.” Selah. 5The heavens (angels) praise Your wonders, O LORD, Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.”

Psalms 89:3-5 AMP

I love the last part of the verse, “Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.” In the Old Testament the worshiper had to travel to the temple for that is where the presence of God rested. Today however, the believer enjoys the presence of God “in them” through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit! We have discussed the process of sanctification in our lives as we walk out the rest of this earthly journey. What a paradox! The Holy, incorruptible, and infinite creator of the universe dwelling with in sinful, corrupted, and created being of man. That is why the Psalmist can say, “Blessed and happy are the people who know the joyful sound!” Notice that he goes on to say that “…they walk in the light and favor of Your countenance.” John in his Epistle put it this way;

“This is the message [of God’s promised revelation] which we have heard from Him and now announce to you, that God is Light [He is holy, His message is truthful, He is perfect in righteousness], and in Him there is no darkness at all [no sin, no wickedness, no imperfection]. 6If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness [of sin], we lie and do not practice the truth; 7but if we [really] walk in the Light [that is, live each and every day in conformity with the precepts of God], as He Himself is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another [He with us, and we with Him], and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin [by erasing the stain of sin, keeping us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations].”

1 John 1 6-7 AMP

Notice it says that we should “…walk in the light (that is live each and every day in conformity with the precepts of God…” The process of sanctification is not simply giving ascent to the Word of God but put it into action in our lives! When we become aware of our sin, we should be ready to confess them and seek help from the throne room of Grace to overcome. Realize that our status does not change as children of the King based upon how quickly enough or thoroughly enough! Our standing before the throne of Grace is wholly based upon the blood of Jesus Christ! Walking in the light of His love blesses us in many ways. Good things are better and bad things become more bearable when we share them with Him. If we are holding fast to His precepts and ways, we find ourselves living in the sweet spot of blessing!

Our verse today says that God is the glory of our strength and celebration of our soul! It is the work of Christ that those around us see that becomes the glory of our light! As the days grow darker our light will shine brighter! I am always reminded of the verse,

“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven.”

Matthew 5:16 AMP

Have a bright and shinning day! Pastor Ken
