Give it All!

“Let us not grow weary or become discouraged in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give in.” Galatians 6:9 AMP

The believer in Christ is called to have an eternal view of this life. The Scriptures are clear from beginning to end that the number of our days on planet earth are limited and short! We read these words in the book of James.

“Yet you do not know [the least thing] about what may happen in your life tomorrow. [What is secure in your life?] You are merely a vapor [like a puff of smoke or a wisp of steam from a cooking pot] that is visible for a little while and then vanishes [into thin air].” James 4:14 AMP

It is from this reality that God encourages us to see things from His eternal perspective. If we are only concerned with the here and now, our lives would be filled with self-centered gratification and a “get it all now” attitude. Man was created with eternity in his heart! In the book of Genesis, we see that God created man to be an eternal being.

“So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Genesis 1:27 AMP

God is an eternal being and as such He placed eternity in our hearts. That is why we fear death so much. One cannot conceive the length of eternity, and it presents a stark reality that needs dealt with; “Where will I spend eternity?” AS long as they walked in the ways of the Lord they had access to the tree of life. It was only the introduction of sin that brought the reality of disobedience to man’s existence. Since sin was conceived in the flesh, the flesh will one day go back to the dust from which it came. There is nowhere in the Bible where we see salvation to the flesh!  The promise in fact is that we will receive “new bodies” when Jesus fulfills His promise to us of everlasting life! Writing to the church at Corinth we read the Apostle Paul’s word,

1For we know that if the earthly tent [our physical body] which is our house is torn down [through death], we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our [immortal, eternal] celestial dwelling, 3so that by putting it on we will not be found naked. 4For while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened [often weighed down, oppressed], not that we want to be unclothed [separated by death from the body], but to be clothed, so that what is mortal [the body] will be swallowed up by life [after the resurrection]. 5Now He who has made us and prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave us the [Holy] Spirit as a pledge [a guarantee, a down payment on the fulfillment of His promise]. 6So then, being always filled with good courage and confident hope, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord– 7for we walk by faith, not by sight [living our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in God’s promises]–” 2 Corinthians 5:1-6 AMP

Do you see it?

6So then, being always filled with good courage and confident hope, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord– 7for we walk by faith, not by sight [living our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in God’s promises]—” 2 Corinthians 6:6 AMP

We walk by faith fulfilling the command of our Savior, “Love one another as I have loved you!” In our opening verse the Greek word “grow weary” is the word meaning “to act badly or to fail.” We cannot let the temporal things of this world cloud our responsibility to give of everything we have that the world would see the Kingdom of God through us! Don’t give up! AS the voice of the world cries get more the voice of the Spirit says, “give it all!” Have a blessed day, Pastor Ken
