Greater Works

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  14If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” John 14:12-14 NKJV

As Christmas day rapidly approaches, I wanted to a take a moment and talk about the true meaning of the Christmas gift. Following the creation of man, the Father was pleased and entered a relationship with His creation which was to last an eternity. Love from a free choice was the foundation or relationship unlike anything else God had created! There came however a moment when the choice had to be given! Man failed! The relationship of eternity would be turned to dust and all the blessings found in that relationship were removed. Was judgement and suffering to be the lot of man’s existence? NO! From the first moment God began plan that would cost Himself everything to ransomed back His lost creation! Though the canvas of eternity was dark and hopeless, there came a moment when the light of love could be seen breaking on the horizon.

“The people who walk in [spiritual] darkness Will see a great Light; Those who live in the dark land, The Light will shine on them. 3You [O God] will increase the nation, You will multiply their joy; They will rejoice before You. Like the joy and jubilation of the harvest,” Isaiah 9:2-3 AMP

“For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given; And the government shall be upon His shoulder, And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7There shall be no end to the increase of His government and of peace, [He shall rule] on the throne of David and over his kingdom,

To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from that time forward and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this.” Isaiah 9: 6-7 AMP

The dark stain of sin that had separated man from his creator would soon be broken and all those living under the fear of death would soon have a pathway to life! The Apostle Paul reminds us of the emptying of heaven to redeem the lost creation of man!

“Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility], 6who, although He existed in the form and unchanging essence of God [as One with Him, possessing the fullness of all the divine attributes–the entire nature of deity], did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped or asserted [as if He did not already possess it, or was afraid of losing it]; 7but emptied Himself [without renouncing or diminishing His deity, but only temporarily giving up the outward expression of divine equality and His rightful dignity] by assuming the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men [He became completely human but was without sin, being fully God and fully man]. After He was found in [terms of His] outward appearance as a man [for a divinely-appointed time], He humbled Himself [still further] by becoming obedient [to the Father] to the point of deatheven death on a cross9For this reason also [because He obeyed and so completely humbled Himself], God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10so that at the name of Jesus [b]EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW [in submission], of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11and that every tongue will confess and openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord (sovereign God), to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:8-11 AMP

Though on that Christmas morn Mary brough forth life, He would conquer death! But for what reason?

“Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment].” Hebrews 4:16 AMP

You see, the reason for the season was so that the relationship lost in Eden could be restored at Calvary! John chapter 14 is a discourse about the mission of Jesus to reveal the Father to the disciples and a call for them to reveal Him to the world so that the lost could walk again with the Father! If we ask anything in line with that purpose in mind, the Father will move heaven and earth to answer the call! Jesus ministered in a limited area of the world. Today we have the capacity to proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called out of darkness to all the world!

This Christmas season what will you be proclaiming? The world is chasing a hollow dream that near can be internally fulfilling. You my friend have been equipped with the greatest power in the universe; Christ in you! What will you proclaim this Christmas season? Have a blessed day, Pastor Ken
