“O LORD my God, I cried to You for help, and You have healed me. 3O LORD, You have brought my life up from Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead); You have kept me alive, so that I would not go down to the pit (grave).” Psalms 30:2-3 AMP
Many of us today can identify with the words of the Psalmist! In the darkest, deepest moment of our lives we “cried out” unto the Lord. Full of darkness and broken dreams, the maker of heaven and earth came rushing to our rescue. Hell itself had wrapped its tentacles of death around us with no escape in sight but the light of God’s love came bursting through. I clearly remember the first Scripture I ever read coming to know Christ.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5 NKJV
I remember saying to God that night, “If you are really there, I want to know!” You see, I had tried so many paths to God only to find emptiness at the end of the journey. I wanted so badly to know the One who created it all and what did He have for me. Let him ask, words that changed my very life! Jesus told us clearly the plan of the enemy for our lives.
“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].” John 10:10 AMP
Hopefully you never had to experience the destructive power of Satan in your life. If you have you know exactly what I am talking about! The enemy of our soul had planned to kill us before we had a chance to experience the transformational power of the cross of Christ, but He came to give us another chance! Abundant life, I couldn’t imagine what He was talking about. I had nothing or even the possibility of a future, yet He would restore it all! I am reminded of a verse that speaks to His restorative work.
“The one who practices sin [separating himself from God, and offending Him by acts of disobedience, indifference, or rebellion] is of the devil [and takes his inner character and moral values from him, not God]; for the devil has sinned and violated God’s law from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8 AMP
The work of Christ in the world today is to destroy that which the enemy has claimed as his own! The pervasive power of sin is still at work perverting and subverting mankind. Satan has convinced people that they are living now and going to die when in reality, we are dying now and going to live! Jesus said,
“Jesus said to her, “I am the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in (adheres to, trusts in, relies on) Me [as Savior] will live even if he dies;” John 11:25 AMP
In the truest sense, we have experienced a small taste of the resurrection from the dead! We were dead in our sins with no possibility of life but through the resurrection power of Christ we have been born again! Like Lazarus coming forth from the tomb, we too have walked out of deaths grip and shed the graveclothes that had bound us! Yes, one day this flesh will go back to the dust from which it came, and we will be finally rid of the pull of sins grip on our lives! Oh, what a glorious day it will be when we stand before our King and deliverer finally reunited with our Lord and Maker!
I pray today that you might also experience the power of His love and grace. If you are in a place of hopelessness and depression, He is reaching out to you. God is not a respecter of persons or waiting for you to “get it together” before He will move! No! Reach your hands toward heaven and cry out to the One who gave it all and allow His power to lift your feet from the miry clay! Today, He is calling come unto me and be free! Have a blessed day, Pastor Ken
