“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do it?” Numbers 23:19 AMP
Our verse today reminds us of the faithfulness of God to His Word! This whole exercise we are doing is to apply God’s promises and expectations to our lives and have faith that He will do it! The story behind this verse is that Balak has asked Balaam to curse Israel. Multiple times he tried to bring a curse but only blessing flowed from his lips! God had destined the nation for blessing and there was nothing the Balaam could do to change it. The opening statement of the verse is ever so true, man is inherently a liar! Many times, we think about a liar as on we do not speak the truth. The Hebrew word here describes someone who is self-deceived! The lie is then born out of the deception clouding the judgement of the speaker! A further investigation into the word here reveal that it literally means that God cannot be “proven” a liar! This should bring us great confidence but also fearful concern! If this is the truth, we must also believe that the judgements put forth by the Word are also true! From the beginning Jesus told us,
“So Jesus was saying to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you abide in My word [continually obeying My teachings and living in accordance with them, then] you are truly My disciples. 32And you will know the truth [regarding salvation], and the truth will set you free [from the penalty of sin].”
John 8:31-32 AMP
Man chooses daily to walk in the reality of God’s truth or in the deception of Satan. Jesus warned us again about the tactics of our enemy.
“Why do you misunderstand what I am saying? It is because [your spiritual ears are deaf and] you are unable to hear [the truth of] My word. 44You are of your father the devil, and it is your will to practice the desires [which are characteristic] of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar and the father of lies and half-truths. 45But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me [and continue in your unbelief].”
John 8:43-45 AMP
The contracting choice is clear!
“All who came before Me [as false messiahs and self-appointed leaders] are thieves and robbers, but the [true] sheep did not hear them. 9I am the Door; anyone who enters through Me will be saved [and will live forever], and will go in and out [freely], and find pasture (spiritual security). 10The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].”
John 10:8-10 AMP.
WOW! Do you see it? From the start God has not lied and you can track His faithfulness to His Word throughout man’s recorded history. Remember, is “His Story!” The Word of God is full of the promises and warnings of God. They are given to us for comfort and for warning! God’s promises are not empty! They are based on His infinite love and faithfulness backed up and proven by His actions. God will do what He has said!
““For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. 9“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts higher than your thoughts.,10“For as the rain and snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth, Making it bear and sprout, And providing seed to the sower and bread to the eater,11So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.12“For you will go out [from exile] with joy And be led forth [by the LORD Himself] with peace;”
Isaiah 55:8-12 AMP
What a beautiful verse of scripture! God’s Word will accomplish that for which He sent it out out to do! All He needs is someone willing to believe it! The goodness of God is found on every page of the Scripture. Whatever we are facing we can find guidance from His Word if we are willing to receive! Will you be the who will believe” Have a blessed day! Pastor Ken
Power prayer for promise: Assurance
Father, I thank you today that You have sent for the Your Word to accomplish Your will and purpose for my life and that it will not return to You void of effect. (Isaiah 55:11) I will trust in all of my heart and not lean on my own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5) I will not worry because of the evildoers of this age for they will wither before You and fade away so I will walk in trust, relying on You will all confidence that You will do as You say. (Psalms 37:1-3) I know that You are my salvation so I chose to trust and will not be afraid for You are my shield and strength and are now the song of my life. In Jesus name, Amen!
Hallelujah. Powerful message pastor.
