I Love the Lord

“I love the LORD, because He hears [and continues to hear] My voice and my supplications (my pleas, my cries, my specific needs).” Psalm 116:1 AMP

This certainly an interesting Psalm penned by a man after God’s own heart! If you continue reading verse 3, you will find that King David is rehearsing some very difficult time he had been through.

“The cords and sorrows of death encompassed me, And the terrors of Sheol came upon me;” psalms 116:3

Look at the intensity of the words he uses, pains of death, pangs of hell finding trouble and sorrow. Any of us in similar situations may simply give up but verse 4 shows us how a man of God handles these things,

“Then I called on the name of the LORD: “O LORD, please save my life!”” Psalms 116:4

Oh that it would be the response from us going thorough such difficult times! He needed something greater than himself and remembered the goodness of his God! How important it is to recount the goodness of God in our lives. Every time we remember His goodness, we have new strength for the day. In verse 7 David speaks to his inner man who was in much turmoil.

“Return to your rest, O my soul, For the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.8For You have rescued my life from death, My eyes from tears, And my feet from stumbling and falling.” Psalm 116:7-8 AMP

Taking control of our inner man and emotions can be an exhausting experience. If God was able to deliver in the past most certainly, He can deliver in the future! The result of this kind of relationship only leads to one place, submission.

“I will walk [in submissive wonder] before the LORD In the land of the living.” Psalm 116:9 AMP

As we remember the faithfulness of God in our lives, it should always take us to the place of trust. Trust then will lead us to the place of surrender so that God may accomplish what He desires in our lives. The only thing we can do is walk in obedience to honor that which God has called us to. In verse 17 & 18 David lays it out clearly.

“I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, And will call on the name of the LORD.  18I will pay my vows to the LORD, Yes, in the presence of all His people,” Psalm 116:17-18 AMP

I pray that today will be a day of remembrance, peace and obedience! Have. Blessed day, Pastor Ken
