Tuning In – Psalm 23:6

“Surely goodness and mercy and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell forever [throughout all my days] in the house and in the presence of the LORD.” Psalm 23:6 AMP

Today we are reminded that there is goodness and mercy available to us—not just someday, but today, and every day of our lives. The promise is not temporary. It is continual. But Psalm 23 also speaks of something deeper: dwelling in the presence of the Lord. This is not simply about a place—it is about relationship.

At first glance, we might think of the “house of the Lord” as a physical location. But we know from Scripture that God no longer dwells in buildings made by human hands. So where is His presence? It is within you.

The Apostle Paul reminds us:

“In Him, you also… were stamped with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit…”
Ephesians 1:13 AMP

“And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you…”
Romans 8:11 AMP

God’s presence is not distant—it is indwelling.

So if His presence is always with us, why do we sometimes feel disconnected? Because connection requires attention. Think about the world around you. At any given moment, countless signals are moving through the air—radio waves, phone calls, wireless connections. Yet you cannot hear or access any of them unless you are tuned to the correct frequency. The same is true spiritually.

The Holy Spirit is present, speaking, and leading—but our minds are often overwhelmed by noise. Distractions, thoughts, worries, and influences compete for our attention. If we want to hear His voice, we must learn to tune in. The Word of God becomes our filter.

“I will meditate on Your precepts… I will delight in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.”
Psalm 119:15–16 AMP

As we spend time in Scripture, the noise begins to fade, and truth becomes clearer. Our hearts become more aligned with His voice. But we must remain alert.

The Apostle Peter gives this warning:

“Be sober… be alert… your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 AMP

Distraction is not neutral—it is often strategic. Our enemy wants to pull our attention away, to get us tuned into the wrong voices. So today, be intentional.

Tune your heart to the voice of the One who gives life. Dwell in His presence. Stay connected. Filter out the noise. And as you do, you will find that His goodness and mercy are not distant promises—they are present realities, following you every day.

Reflection Question

What distractions in your life might be preventing you from clearly hearing the voice of God?

Have a blessed day,

  1. This is a very wonderful message. There are really many things in life that prevent us from going into the presence of God. And God says that your body is my temple. If our body is the temple of God, then we need to purify it. May God bless you dearest man of God
