Testimony – Colossians 2:13–15

“When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh (worldliness, manner of life), God made you alive together with Christ, having freely forgiven us all our sins, 14having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of legal demands [which were in force] against us and which were hostile to us. And this certificate He has set aside and completely removed by nailing it to the cross. 15When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities those supernatural forces of evil operating against us, He made a public example of them exhibiting them as captives in His triumphal procession], having triumphed over them through the cross.” Colossians 2:13-15 AMP

Did you know that you are a testimony of Jesus Christ? When we think of a testimony, we often think of a story—someone rescued from the bondage of sin. But your life is more than a story. It is living evidence of Christ’s victory. Scripture tells us that the powers of darkness that once held us captive have now been defeated. What once enslaved us has been overcome by the cross. You are no longer a prisoner, you are proof.

We must remember that the battle we are in is spiritual. There are forces of darkness that war for the souls of men. But the victory has already been won. The Apostle Paul reminds us:

“But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us spreads and makes evident everywhere the sweet fragrance of the knowledge of Him. “ 1 Corinthians 2:15 AMP

We walk in victory not because of our strength, but because of His. Colossians tells us that our certificate of debt, the record of our sin, was canceled. That debt demanded our lives, and we had no way or no one to pay it. So Christ paid it for us.

“Therefore, since [these His] children share in flesh and blood [the physical nature of mankind], He Himself in a similar manner also shared in the same [physical nature, but without sin], so that through [experiencing] death He might make powerless (ineffective, impotent) him who had the power of death—that is, the devil—” Hebrews 2:14 AMP

The death Jesus suffered was final and sufficient. Because of Him, the debt is canceled.
Because of Him, the enemy is defeated. Because of Him, we now live in freedom. But this does not mean we live passively.

There is still a battle for the souls of men, and we are called to stand and fight the good fight of faith, not in our own strength, but in the power of Christ.

So take time today to thank Him for what He has done on your behalf. And then take the next step. Tell your story. Share your testimony. Point others to the One who set you free. Remember, the same power that raised Christ from the dead now lives in you.
