“In the morning, O LORD, You will hear my voice; Psalm. 5:3 AMP

“In the morning, O LORD, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will prepare [a prayer and a sacrifice] for You and watch and wait [for You to speak to my heart].” Psalm. 5:3 AMP

Our verse today reminds us that we serve a “prayer hearing” God. In verse 1 David places his trust in the One who is self-existent and Self-sufficient. I remember the words spoken to Moses in the desert.

“The LORD said to Moses, “Is the LORD’S hand (ability, power) limited (short, inadequate)? You shall see now whether My word will come to pass for you or not.” Numbers 11:23 AMP

WOW! What a powerful statement on God’s ability! We often think that circumstances and needs are so big. Now God challenges Moses to watch and see His “ability, and power. Interesting to note that the word “prayer” here is the legal term meaning to “arbitrate and help parties to come into agreement for a settlement:” “to give declarations to urge and persuade a point of view about a circumstance.” Our time of prayer is not for God…it is for us! As we meditate on the Word, the Holy Spirit reminds us of the promises of God in regard to the subject matter of our prayer! We then can “come into agreement” with what the Scriptures command or promise! One of the greatest promises we have concerning His Word is the following:

““You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character], Because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].” Isaiah 26:3 AMP

The Amplified translation brings out the flavor of the Greek. The promise is that we would have both correct “inclination and character.” Praying isn’t simply throwing words into the air. It should be a transformational experience whereby we are becoming more aligned with God’s Word in both intention and action. Psalm 119 tells us that,

“Those who love Your law have great peace; Nothing makes them stumble.” Psalm 119:165 AMP

When we can trust God with our concerns, the fear and worry about meeting them seems to pass away. The circumstance may not change but our perspective on His ability will!

Notice that along with his morning prayer, David intimates that he is also offering a sacrifice. I believe that the sacrifice we offer with our prayers is to leave them on the alter! Peter gave us good advice in his first Epistle.

“casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].” 1 Peter 7 AMP

As you take time today to arbitrate your case before the Lord, remember that “He cares for you!” Have a blessed day, Pastor Ken
