“Trust [rely on and have confidence] in the LORD and do good; Dwell in the land and feed [securely] on His faithfulness. 4Delight yourself in the LORD, And He will give you the desires and petitions of your heart. 5Commit your way to the LORD; Trust in Him also and He will do it.” Psalm 37:3-5 AMP
We are living in a day and an age where evil seems to be abounding! There are many things that can happen to us; many unexpected disappointments and ordeals can cross our paths at any time. Often we cannot understand or see the sense or meaning in them. I am reminded o the Scripture in the book of Romans.
“And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love 012AMP
Notice that the Apostle clarifies the recipient of the promise; “…those who love God and are called according to His purpose.” This supports our verse this morning! The believer is called to “dwell in the land and feed securely on His faithfulness.” The Hebrew word dwell used here is the word meaning to “remain, camp, to live or reside usually as a permanent resident.” When we are living as permanent residence in the Kingdom of God we are living by a totally different world view! The book of Hebrews tells us that,
“Now those who say such things make it clear that they are looking for a country of their own. 15And if they had been thinking of that country from which they departed [as their true home], they would have had [a continuing] opportunity to return. 16But the truth is that they were longing for a better country, that is, a heavenly one. For that reason, God is not ashamed [of them or] to be called their God [even to be surnamed their God–the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob]; for He has prepared a city for them.” Hebrews 11:14-16 AMP
There is a clear warning here that we should be careful to be looking back at our old way of life! When the Israelites were wandering in the desert they kept thinking about form where they came instead of where they were going. As a result, they never entered the promised land! We should always be living the life that we profess to believe! They key to staying focused is to “delight yourself in the Lord.” When we are aligned with the Master’s plan, our desires become His desires, and our lives come into agreement with Him! I pray today that you can commit to Him all that is near to your heart and that you might enter into the trust that God has extended you when He allowed you to take His name! Take time to delight yourself in Him goodness and grace today! Have a blessed day, Pastor Ken
