“Those who trust in and rely on the LORD [with confident expectation] Are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but remains forever.” Psalm 125:1 AMP

One of the great promises we have in Christ is that we shall not be moved! Have you ever had one of those days that you felt like anything but that was the truth? I love the challenge that the Amplified version brings out of this verse. It clearly reminds us our walk is more than just accepting and then cruise control! The emphasis here is on trusting with “confident expectation!” The Hebrew word trust used here means to “believe in a person or object to the point of reliance.” Another word for reliance is “dependance.” That changes the whole picture of the process. We must admit that we don’t generally trust God to the point of dependance! That is a hard place to live. Yet, the Scripture is very clear.

“But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.” Matthew 6:33 AMP

Did you see it? “His way of doing and being right.” Ouch! Do we really live our lives in that state of intention? So many other things crow out our pursuit of God until it becomes just “one more thing” we do. We must remember that Christianity isn’t about but rather being! I am not saying that we do not have things to do, but they are an outflow our being! Jesus gave a parable describing the importance of committing to our relationship with God.

““The kingdom of heaven is like a [very precious] treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid again; then in his joy he goes and sells all he has and buys that field [securing the treasure for himself].” Matthew 13:44 AMP

WOW! So important to the seeker was the treasure that he gives all that he must secure it. That should be a picture of our walk daily with Christ. Do we really treasure that opportunity of do we just fit into our daily schedule? The Apostle Paul also addressed this issue in his letter to the Philippians.

“But whatever former things were gains to me [as I thought then], these things [once regarded as advancements in merit] I have come to consider as loss [absolutely worthless] for the sake of Christ [and the purpose which He has given my life].” Philippians 3:7 AMP

Notice the focus there, “the purpose which He has given my life.” Do you know your purpose? If we are connected to the vine, then fruit should natural be appearing in our lives. Now, it is a process for sure. Even the Apostle tells us that it took him time, “I have come to consider as loss.” The result of his relationship with Christ brought to him the reality of this life.
